I feel a Gladiolus trend coming.
Kind of like the Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) has been making a "comeback" for the past 5 years. Gladiolus Blooms are Modernized. Stylish. & Bold. Interesting Flower Facts: 1. Gladiolus is the birth flower for August (timely post, as it is August). 2. They are native to sub-Saharan Africa (mostly South Africa, which was one of my favorite places to visit, so beautiful). 3. They grow in all colors of the rainbow (just not blue). 4. They grow from corms, not bulbs. (Corms are solid modified stems with a basal plate for the growth of the plant to develop from. For more information about the difference between bulbs & corms: Illinois Extension Bulbs & More.) 5. Their linear shape derived their Latin name, gladius meaning sword.
